A Sneak Peak into Google Cloud Platform

With technological advancement, companies are rapidly adopting cloud solutions to address their business requirements and demands, which in turn has increased the demand for professionals proficient with skills, knowledge, and expertise in cloud solutions. Multisoft Virtual Academy has also witnessed a rise in applicants for Google Cloud Engineer Associate Training and Google Cloud Architect Certification Training courses.

What is Google Cloud?

GCP is a public cloud vendor, like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Google Cloud enables users to access computer resources in Google’s data centers across the globe on a pay-per-use basis or for free. It offers a plethora of computing services for everything, including cost management, data management, delivering web, AI, and machine learning tools, and others.

Where Google provides a combination of services available over the internet that enables organizations to take their business into digital space; Google Cloud Platform is a part of Google Cloud and provides public cloud infrastructure for hosting web-based applications. Each Google Cloud Platform region offers a category of services, where some services are limited to specific regions. Some major services offered by Google Cloud Platform are computing and hosting; storage and database; networking; Big Data and Machine learning.

Google Cloud Offerings

Google Cloud provides services for computing, storage, networking, big data, machine learning, and IoT, along with cloud management, security, and developer tools. Here are some cloud computing products offered by Google Cloud:

  • Google Compute Engine- An infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offering that provides VM instances for workload hosting.
  • Google Cloud Storage- A cloud storage platform designed to store large, unstructured data sets. Google also offers database storage options, such as Cloud Datastore for NoSQL non-relational storage, Cloud SQL for MySQL fully relational storage, and Google's native Cloud Bigtable database.
  • Google App Engine- A platform as a service (PaaS) offering that allows software developers to access Google's scalable hosting and develop software products that run on App Engine.
  • Serverless computing- Tools and services for event-based workload execution, including Cloud Functions for creating functions that handle cloud events, Cloud Run for managing and running containerized applications, and Workflows to orchestrate serverless products and APIs.
  • Databases - A suite of database products delivered as completely managed services, including Cloud Bigtable for large-scale, low-latency workloads; Firestore for documents; CloudSpanner as a highly scalable, highly reliable relational database; and CloudSQL as a fully managed database for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
  • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) - A management and orchestration system for Docker container and container clusters that run within Google's public cloud services. Google Kubernetes Engine is based on Kubernetes, Google's open-source container management system.
  • Google Cloud's operations suite- A set of integrated tools used for monitoring, logging, and reporting on managed services driving applications and systems on Google Cloud.
